"Yesterday, our community was shaken by an ICE raid at a beloved neighborhood restaurant in South Park. Families were traumatized, workers were targeted, and fear rippled through a community that has long stood as a model of inclusion and care.
"We condemn this raid in the strongest possible terms. These acts of intimidation have no place in our city. They do not make us safer—they tear families apart, undermine trust, and instill fear in our neighbors simply for trying to live and work with dignity.
"We are deeply grateful to Buona Forchetta for standing with their employees during this terrifying moment, and to the community members who immediately showed up in solidarity. That collective response is a powerful reminder of who we are: a city that shows up for one another in the face of injustice.
"This kind of unaccountable enforcement—carried out without transparency and aimed at some of our most vulnerable neighbors—echoes the tactics of a police state. It reflects the authoritarian playbook being implemented by the Trump administration right now. We reject these policies and the fear they are designed to instill in our communities.
"We cannot and will not stand by silently while our homes, workspaces, and neighborhoods are treated as targets. In moments like this, our values must be louder than fear. We stand with the immigrant community. We stand with South Park. And we recommit ourselves to building a city for all people — where justice, compassion, and humanity prevail over cruelty and control."
