Becca Taylor Memorial Fellowship:

Applications Now Open!

Picture

The Becca Taylor Memorial Fellowship honors the memory and spirit of Rebecca (Becca) Taylor, a brilliant organizer and former Chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party whose leadership helped strengthen Democratic organizing throughout our region.

This fellowship was created to support the next generation of organizers by providing financial assistance and hands-on campaign experience to individuals who want to build power for Democratic campaigns in San Diego County.

Through this program, two fellows will receive a paid opportunity to work alongside organizers and campaigns across the county while developing the skills necessary to lead future organizing efforts.

Fellowship Details

Selected fellows will serve as Field Organizers with the San Diego County Democratic Party from May 4, 2026 through November 20, 2026.

Compensation

$25 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week (part-time). During the fellowship, organizers will gain practical experience supporting Democratic campaigns and community organizing efforts throughout San Diego County.

Responsibilities

Fellows will work directly with campaign organizers and SDCDP leadership to:

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
  • Coordinate voter contact programs including but not limited to phonebanking, canvassing, and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts
  • Attend local events and build relationships with community members
  • Assist with day-to-day campaign operations and organizing activities

Eligibility

The fellowship is designed for aspiring organizers who are passionate about Democratic values and worker justice, but who may not otherwise have the financial flexibility to dedicate time to political organizing.

Two fellows will be selected: one student fellow, and Democratic fellow of any education level.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:
  • A résumé
  • A 500-word essay describing:
    • Your personal background
    • The work you hope to accomplish within the Democratic Party
    • An issue that is important to you and how you believe the Democratic Party should address it.

Email Application Materials to: [email protected] with the subject line "[YOUR NAME]: Becca Taylor Memorial Fellowship Application." Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 3, 2026.

Selection Committee

The fellowship selection committee consists of:
  • Two representatives of the San Diego County Democratic Party, designated by the Party Chair
